What Is Six Month Smiles?
Six Month Smiles is a concept of using Tooth coloured brackets and wire to orthodontically correct crooked and misaligned teeth in about 6 months. It has been used for a number of years with great success and continues to create happy smiles. If you ever wonder what your teeth would look like straight, and want a more pleasing smile, this may be a great treatment for you. Do you hide your smile in photographs? Are you embarrassed about your smile? This treatment is designed to mainly align the teeth.
How does it work?
It uses the traditional method of bracket and wire to correct spaced, misaligned and wonky teeth, putting teeth back into their optimum position. Orthodontics has been the most successful way of moving teeth. By placing the brackets into the ideal position on the teeth, the wire, of which there are 3, will quickly correct many different misalignments.
It is safe, researched and is now the most popular treatment of choice in correcting misaligned teeth. The brackets are tooth coloured and are chemically bonded onto the teeth, a wire is placed into the bracket and tied in with small bands that are called O rings.
Am I suitable for Six Month Smiles?
After a Free consultation at Street Farm Dental Studio, we will assess your teeth, gums and mouth and make sure you are dentally fit to have braces. After discussing with you, your needs and expectations, we will together decide if Six Month smiles is the best treatment for you.
Six month smiles can treat:
- Crowded smiles - too many teeth for the size of the mouth
- Spaces in between teeth - known as diastemas
- Over jet - where the top teeth are a far distance from the bottom set of teeth.
- Open bite - where there is a space between the tooth and bottom front teeth.
- Rotated teeth – this is teeth that are twisted and crooked
- Gummy smiles - this is where the teeth are small and patients show a lot of gum when smiling

Most smiles are finished in 6 months but depending on the complexity and movement of your teeth, cases may take anything from 4 – 9 months.
