Digital Radiographs
Until recently our only option to take a dental x-ray was the exposure of a small film packet, which then took five to ten minutes to develop with chemicals harmful to the environment.
Now the digital era has brought us an exciting new technology called digital radiography, which has many advantages over traditional dental x-rays; it is faster and allows instant viewing, not to mention the most important benefit that there is up to 90% less radiation for you as the patient.
Instead of the film packet we have a small wireless sensor that connects directly to the computer. Now your x-ray can be seen on the computer screen seconds after exposure. The image is of superior quality and we can see details, make adjustments and magnify images that are a tremendous help in our diagnosis. We can also save images in our computer system for instant retrieval at a later date.
At Street Farm Dental Studios we are proud to be one of the few dental clinics in the UK that use Digital Radiographs with our patients' best interest at heart. It is a much more efficient system that is environmentally friendly as there are no chemicals involved for development compared to traditional methods.
